Chief Fire Controlman Timothy Reid, USN

Fire Control Chief (FCC), USS Carney (DDG 64)

Chief Fire Controlman Timothy Reid was born and raised in St Marys, Georgia. He enlisted in the Navy in November of 2007. Following basic training, his first assignment was the USS THE SULLIVANS (DDG 68), where he checked onboard in October of 2008. Throughout his tenure, he actively participated in numerous live fire gunnery exercises, conducted over 100 Visit, Board, Search and Seizure operations, and completed four deployments to the dynamic environments of Fifth and Sixth Fleets. In December 2013, FCC Reid transitioned to Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois, assuming the role of a Recruit Division Commander. Over the course of his service, he successfully led 11 divisions, equipping more than 1,000 recruits with the necessary skills for their Naval careers. From 2018 to 2023, FCC Reid brought his expertise to the USS MILWAUKEE (LCS 5) and USS DETROIT (LCS 7), where he played a pivotal role in the testing of the experimental Surface to Surface Missile Module. In 2018 he attained the rank of Chief Fire Controlman. In May 2023, FCC Reid commenced his current assignment onboard the USS CARNEY (DDG 64) and assumed the role as the Combat Gunnery Division Leading Chief Petty Officer. His unwavering commitment and strategic contributions proved instrumental during the ship’s historic 2023-2024 deployment, culminating in the groundbreaking achievement of the first air mission kill utilizing the MK 34 Gun Weapon System.
