The modernization of vehicle-mounted weapon systems is crucial to reducing the significant risk operators face during missions that involve the protection of strategic installations such as flight lines and Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) sites. The current remote weapon stations (RWS) used across the Department of Defense fleets, while providing essential capabilities, are cumbersome and require considerable time and multiple personnel for installation. Defense industry analyses highlight the need for a nimble and rapid-deployment defense system as adversaries evolve their capabilities, necessitating quicker response times from our forces (Defense Innovation Review, 2023). This underscores the pressing need for solutions that allow for swift adaptability in changing tactical situations without endangering personnel.
