The DEVCOM Armaments Center's Small Caliber Weapons Division has developed the Gymnasticator to test and exercise experimental technologies for automatic weapons in a laboratory environment. This benchtop device simulates seven of the eight cycles of operation without live firing, using compressed air, timing circuits, and an exhaust valve.
